OTTAWA, Thursday, February 2, 2023 – Earlier this week, representatives from Desjardins Ontario Credit Union, Mauril-Bélanger Social Innovation Workshop and Saint Paul University gathered to celebrate Sheila Aboagye and Joseph Jethro Sereme, the winners of the 2022 Desjardins Bursary in Social Innovation. Aboagye and Sereme, both students in the Master’s in Social Innovation, were awarded a bursary of $10,000 to launch social innovation projects. “We are grateful to our partners for investing in our students and the important work that they are doing,” said Chantal Beauvais, Rector of Saint Paul University. “Building on what they have learned, Sheila and Joseph have developed impressive projects that will promote real, positive change in communities in Haiti and Ghana.”   My Girl, My Pride Sheila Aboagye’s project – titled My Girl, My Pride – engages girls between the ages of 10 to 15 years in Ghana’s Kwahu district, a region that experiences a high rate of teenage pregnancies. The project will educate teenage girls in sexual and reproductive health to help empower them in their personal health choices. “I am very happy to receive this funding,” shared Aboagye. “With this bursary, I will have an even greater platform to ensure that information on sexual health is readily accessible to more young girls.” Job Power “The Desjardins bursary allows us to create hope for thousands of young people in Haiti,” said Sereme. “The funding will help us to mobilize the Haitian diaspora – especially in Canada – to participate more effectively in the creation of sustainable jobs by and for youth in Haiti.” Through his project Job Power, Sereme seeks to create financial partnerships between members of the Haitian diaspora and community leaders in Haiti to invest in youth-led job creation and ecological projects. Through this program, approximately 100,000 Haitian youth between the ages of 16 and 20 will be encouraged to develop projects that address community-based environmental issues such as reforestation, waste management and civic engagement. Childhood education

In the year 2015, Pervita Foundation identified the need of early childhood education for needy children within the Tema Metropolis. By way of addressing that need, we came up with an early child project that seeked to – Use non formal education to develop minds of children – Develop an inclusive system of education where children from all walks of life can access quality education. To the Glory of God, we have officially graduated our first batch of students. These children joined in when they were 2 years and at year 5, they are ready to face the world because they are empowered with quality tools to make good choices for their future.

CHRISTMAS DONATION AT KORLEBU- 2022

Every year Pervita Foundation chooses a location to spend quality time with children. In 2021, we visited children at Korlebu Burns Unit. This unit house children who have been affected by fire or any form of electrical damage one way or the other. We donate Educative items to them so that while in their recovering beds, they can still learn something. We also give out other items to their parents for being supportive throughout their recovering processes. Depending on funding available, we pay the bills of some children to ease off the pressure on their parents. This year 2022, as a team we agreed and decided to visit them one more time. We have out goodies to children and their parents and we paid some bills to ease of the financial burden on children. Both children and parents were happy and we would like to thank all those who donated and contributed in reaching out to these children.

TOURING WITH A PURPOSE 2022

Ada is a small town located in Greater Accra Region. However, they lack a lot of social amenities. The Pervita team visited the community and gave their school a new look. We also donated some educative items to the children in the community. By way of engaging the children, we organized a creative art session for the children. We also engaged the young girls in an educative session on sexual reproductive health.
